6th ESA Training Course on Radar Remote Sensing
7 – 11 September 2015
@ Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
Smetanova ulica 17, 2000 Maribor, Slovenia
The European Space Agency (ESA) is organizing a series of technical and/or scientific trainings that are aimed at the promotion and dissemination of Earth Observation (EO) technology in a variety of science and industrial fields.
In 2015 ESA in cooperation with the University Maribor and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science is organizing a Radar Remote Sensing training course that is addressed to participants from universities, scientific communities, institutions and organizations that are making use of geoinformation. The course will provide participants with an introduction to radar remote sensing technology as well as examples of end – user applications of this technique within the environmental field.
The course is dedicated to researchers, students, PhD students, and young professionals from Slovenia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia and Bulgaria (PECS/Plan for European Cooperating States) that use EO technology within their daily work and would like to improve their knowledge of radar remote sensing.
The ESA Radar Course 2015 will take place in Maribor. Maribor, as the capital of Štajerska, is the second largest city in the country. At the same time Maribor is pleasantly small and set in the wonderful natural surroundings of Pohorje, with wine growing hills and the river Drava wending its way through it. It is one of Slovenia’s key tourist destinations. Maribor also includes the oldest vine in the world, according to the Guinness book of records, with an age of over 400 years.
